z/OS map FBA volumes from the Volumes (Storage Groups) list view

Unisphere supports the z/OS mapping of FBA volumes.

Prerequisites

This feature is only available for All Flash 450F/850F/950F storage systems that are:

  • Purchased as a mixed all flash system
  • Installed at HYPERMAX OS 5977 Q2 2017 or later
  • Configured with two Storage Resource Pools - one FBA Storage Resource Pool and one CKD Storage Resource Pool

NOTE: 

Before making any mapping changes to an existing CU image, ensure that all the devices in the CU are offline (the status of the CU should be offline).

About this task

To map to a CU image from the Volumes (Storage Groups) list view:

Steps

  1. Select a storage system not running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079).
  2. Select Storage > Storage Groups.
  3. Select a storage group and click An icon showing the letter i to see its details.
  4. Click the number in the Volumes field to open the Volumes (Storage Groups) list view.
  5. Select one or more volumes to map, click More icon, and then click z/OS Map.
    The Mainframe Volumes Mapping dialog box displays.
  6. Select whether to want to map the volume(s) to a New or an Existing CU image.
    • New
    1. Specify values for CU Image Number, SSID, and Base Address.
    2. Optional: Select a Split.
    • Existing
    1. Select the CU image to which you want to map the selected volume(s).
    2. Optional: Click Set Base Address to reset the next available base address.
  7. Do one of the following:
    • Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
    • Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
